Africa is a chair that encapsulates a perfect synthesis of structure, form, and function in a timeless sculpture that celebrates the constructive and expressive power of wood.

A re-edition of the original chair by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Africa is a tribute to the ancient art of cabinetmaking: from the frame — a masterpiece of canaletto walnut veneer — to the backrest: crafted as a single piece and then refined into two mirrored sections, it features delicate hand-finishing that reveals layers of different wood essences, creating marvellous chromatic effects. The backrest and rear legs, joined only at the base, form a wide gap that adds flexibility to the seat and evokes a totemic image.
